Nonlinear optics of fibre event horizons [PDF]
The nonlinear interaction of light in an optical fibre can mimic the physics at an event horizon. This analogue arises when a weak probe wave is unable to pass through an intense soliton, despite propagating at a different velocity.

Cross-polarized photon-pair generation and bi-chromatically pumped optical parametric oscillation on a chip [PDF]
Nonlinear optical processes are one of the most important tools in modern optics with a broad spectrum of applications in, for example, frequency conversion, spectroscopy, signal processing and quantum optics.

Linearizing Nonlinear Optics [PDF]
Fourier nonlinear optics merges the simplicity of linear optics with the power of nonlinear optics to achieve a decoupling of frequencies, amplitudes and phases in nonlinear processes - enabling first deep UV shaping at 207nm.

Nonlinear ptychographic coherent diffractive imaging [PDF]
Ptychographic Coherent diffractive imaging (PCDI) is a significant advance in imaging allowing the measurement of the full electric field at a sample without use of any imaging optics.

Nonlinear optics via double dark resonances [PDF]
Double dark resonances originate from a coherent perturbation of a system displaying electromagnetically induced transparency. We experimentally show and theoretically confirm that this leads to the possibility of extremely sharp resonances prevailing ...

Nonlinear Optics and Spectroscopy [PDF]
ing's vector it follows that the light amplitude at the focal spot would reach 108 volts per centimeter, comparable to the electric field internal to the atoms and molecules responsible for the binding of valence electrons. These are literally pulled out of their orbits in multiphoton tunneling processes, and any material will be converted to a highly ...

PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Quantum mechanical counterpart of nonlinear optics [PDF]
Raman-type laser excitation of a trapped atom allows one to realize the quantum mechanical counterpart of phenomena of nonlinear optics, such as Kerr-type nonlinearities, parametric amplification, and multi-mode mixing.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Voltage-driven beam bistability in a reorientational uniaxial dielectric
We report on voltage controlled bistability of optical beams propagating in a nonlocal reorientational uniaxial dielectric, namely, nematic liquid crystals. In the nonlinear regime where spatial solitons can be generated, two stable states are accessible
