High-order harmonics enhancement in laser-induced plasma

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The methods of enhancement of the strong high-order harmonics of femtosecond pulses in laser-induced plasma are demonstrated. It comprises the application of the four techniques allowing the enhancement of harmonics in different spectral ranges.

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Diffraction of a Gaussian beam near the beam waist

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2019
The behavior of the light field near the beam waist has attracted considerable attention due to the studies of the light spin-orbit interaction: it’s manifestation as well as potential applications.

Efficient generation of broadband MIR radiation by difference–frequency generation in LiGaS2 [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
We report a surprisingly infrared (MIR) pulse generation in simultaneous interplay of intra-pulse self-phase-modulation and dispersion. broadband and efficient middle-LiGaS2 (LGS) by invoking a difference frequency generation,

Single-Cycle Nonlinear Optics [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2008
Nonlinear optics plays a central role in the advancement of optical science and laser-based technologies. We report on the confinement of the nonlinear interaction of light with matter to a single wave cycle and demonstrate its utility for time-resolved and strong-field science.

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Spatially Variable Ripple and Groove Formation on Gallium Arsenide Using Linear, Radial, and Azimuthal Polarizations of Laser Beam

open access: yesPhotonics
We demonstrated the linear, radial, and annular ripple formation on the surface of GaAs. The formation of linear ripples was optimized by the number of shots and the fluence of 30 ps, 532 nm pulses.

Nonlinear optics in a birefringent optical fiber

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2004
We extend the perturbation theory of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation for the study of perturbed (nonintegrable) forms of the vector equation. We derive a set of linear equations that describe the radiation field shed by the soliton as it propagates down a birefringent optical fiber.

Detection of second-order nonlinear optical magnetization by mapping normalized Stokes parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A measurable magnetic (nonlocal) contribution to the second harmonic generation (SHG) of nonmagnetic materials is an intriguing issue related to chiral materials, such as biomolecules.

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...
