Solutions to a model for compressible immiscible two phase flow in porous media

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2010
In this article, we study the existence of solutions to a nonlinear degenerate system modelling the displacement of two-phase compressible immiscible flow in a three dimensional porous media.

MDSGene Systematic Review of Common Forms of Dominant Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia: Novel Insights

open access: yesMovement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness. The most common forms of autosomal dominant HSP are caused by pathogenic variants in SPAST (SPG4 or HSP‐SPAST), ATL1 (SPG3A or HSP‐ATL1), and REEP1 (SPG31 or HSP‐REEP1).

Non-simultaneous blow-up for a semilinear parabolic system with nonlinear memory [PDF]

open access: yesSurveys in Mathematics and its Applications, 2007
In this note, we study the possibility of non-simultaneous blow-up for positive solutions to the following system:ut - ∆u = uq1∫0t vp1(x,s) ds, vt - ∆v = vq2∫0t up2(x,s) ds Under appropriate hypotheses, we prove that u blows up while v fails to blow up

Existence Analysis of a Three‐Species Memristor Drift‐Diffusion System Coupled to Electric Networks

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The existence of global weak solutions to a partial‐differential‐algebraic system is proved. The system consists of the drift‐diffusion equations for the electron, hole, and oxide vacancy densities in a memristor device, the Poisson equation for the electric potential, and the differential‐algebraic equations for an electric network.

Numerical Investigation of a Diffusive SIR Model: Focus on Positivity Preservation

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we consider a system of semilinear partial differential equations (PDEs) representing a spatially extended SIR epidemic model. A brief analytical investigation of the well‐posedness and positivity of the solutions is provided in the appendix, while the main focus is on the numerical treatment of the model.

Temporal homogenization of a nonlinear parabolic system

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper we develop are two-scale model for a nonlinear parabolic system. Assuming a rapidly oscillating inhomogeneity with period ε for one equation we carry out a formal periodic expansion to obtain a homogenized equation coupled to a local in time cell problem.

Moment‐curvature behavior of continuous reinforced concrete slab strips—Experimental determination and modeling

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract With the market introduction of new reinforcing materials, such as corrosion‐resistant steel, the effect of their stress–strain relationship on the ductility of reinforced concrete structures needs to be evaluated. Their moment‐curvature behavior significantly influences bending moment redistributions, rotation capacity, and deformation at ...

Research of Compatibility of the Redefined System for the Multidimensional Nonlinear Heat Equation (Special Case)

open access: yesИзвестия Иркутского государственного университета: Серия "Математика", 2016
In paper the multidimensional equation of nonlinear heat conductivity is investigated. This equation is presented in the form of the overdetermined system of the differential equations with partial derivatives (the number of the equations are more than ...
