Nonlinear QED effects in X-ray emission of pulsars

open access: yes, 2017
In the presence of strong magnetic fields near pulsars, the QED vacuum becomes a birefringent medium due to nonlinear QED interactions. Here, we explore the impact of the effective photon-photon interaction on the polarization evolution of photons ...

The Evolution of Laser‐Induced Damage Patterns in Polymer Stabilized Liquid Crystals: Insights From Morphological Characterization and Thermo‐Driven Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐domain PSLC architecture enables direct comparison of alignment‐dependent laser damage within a single device. Crack‐like and seal‐like morphologies emerge under different damage conditions, and their evolution is interpreted through quantitative image analysis and heat‐driven simulations.

Ultrasensitive Atomic Spin Measurements with a Nonlinear Interferometer

open access: yes, 2014
We study nonlinear interferometry applied to a measurement of atomic spin and demonstrate a sensitivity that cannot be achieved by any linear-optical measurement with the same experimental resources.

Multi‐Mode Deep Strong Coupling in a Multi Quantum Well Fabry–Perot Cavity

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Multi‐mode deep‐strong coupling is demonstrated in a 166‐well heterostructure that acts as a Fabry–Perot cavity. Even cavity modes couple strongly to the cyclotron resonance, producing large vacuum Rabi splittings and a rich polaritonic spectrum captured by a full Hopfield model.

Cylindrical Vector Beams with an MOPA Amplifier Based on Nonlinear Polarization Rotation Mode-Locking

open access: yesPhotonics
CVBs (cylindrical vector beams) are widely used in optical imaging, optical trapping, material processing, etc. In this study, based on mode-selective couplers and passive mode-locking fiber technology, a cylindrical vector fiber amplifier with an MOPA ...

All-optical logic gates based on nonlinear polarization rotation in high nonlinear fiber

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 2012
A novel scheme to realize all-optical logic gates is proposed based on nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) in high nonlinear fiber (HNLF). Two optical signals A and B together with a continuous wave are injected into the HNLF. Due to the optical power variation in HNLF, nonlinear birefringence will be induced between the two polarization axes.

Harnessing Ultrafast Optical Pulses for 3D Microfabrication by Selective Tweezing and Immobilization of Colloidal Particles in an Integrated System

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2025.
Microfabrication using nano‐ to micron‐sized blocks has transformative potential for next‐gen electronics, optoelectronics, and materials. Traditional methods are limited by scalability and precision. STIC, a single‐laser system for precise colloid manipulation and immobilization using femtosecond lasers, is introduced that enables efficient 3D ...

Mechanism of Spectrum Moving, Narrowing, Broadening, and Wavelength Switching of Dissipative Solitons in All-Normal-Dispersion Yb-Fiber Lasers

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2014
We report experimental observations and numerical simulation results on the spectrum moving, narrowing, broadening, and wavelength switching of dissipative solitons (DSs) in an all-normal-dispersion Yb-fiber laser that is passively mode-locked by using ...
