Improved methods for the analysis of circadian rhythms in correlated gene expression data [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2018
Circadian clocks regulate biological behaviours, such as sleeping and waking times, that recur naturally on an approximately 24-hour cycle. These clocks tend to be influenced by a variety of external factors, sometimes to the extent that it can have an

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Impact of mulching and planting time on spring-wheat (Triticum aestivum) growth: A combined field experiment and empirical modeling approach

open access: yesOpen Agriculture
This study aimed to assess the effect of straw-mulching and sowing time on spring-wheat growth and also evaluate the suitability of nonlinear models (Logistic, Gompertz, Richards and Weibull models) in forecasting crop growth.

Critical points in logistic growth curves and treatment comparisons

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2012
Several biological phenomena have a behavior over time mathematically characterized by a strong increasing function in the early stages of development, then by a less pronounced growth, sometimes showing stability.

A Comparative Study of Design of Active Fault-Tolerant Control System for Air–Fuel Ratio Control of Internal Combustion Engine Using Particle Swarm Optimization, Genetic Algorithm, and Nonlinear Regression-Based Observer Model

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
In this article, three distinct strategies for designing an Active Fault-Tolerant Control System (AFTCS) for Air-Fuel Ratio (AFR) control of an Internal Combustion (IC) engine in a process plant to avoid engine shutdown, are presented. The proposed AFTCS

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Allometric equations to estimate aboveground and belowground biomass of Pinus patula Schiede ex Schltdl. & Cham

open access: yesForest Science and Technology, 2020
The estimation of tree biomass serves as a parameter of forest productivity; in addition, it is a method to estimate carbon fixation and storage. Studies on total biomass that include the belowground component for the Pinus genus are scarce in Mexico due
