The book Nonlinear Waves edited by L. Debnath is a collection of papers on the theory and applications of nonlinear wave phenomena. The book is an outgrowth of an NSF‐CBMS regional research conference on nonlinear waves and integrable systems, convened in June, 1982 at East Carolina University.

In this article, nonlinear propagation of envelope gravity waves is studied in baroclinic atmosphere. The classical (2+1) $(2+1)$ dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation can be derived by using the multiple-scale, perturbation method.

Long-term evolution of strongly nonlinear internal solitary waves in a rotating channel [PDF]
The evolution of internal solitary waves (ISWs) propagating in a rotating channel is studied numerically in the framework of a fully-nonlinear, nonhydrostatic numerical model.

Nonlinear TE Electromagnetic Surface Waves in a Ferrite Layered Structure [PDF]
Characteristics of TE electromagnetic surface waves propagating in a nonlinear dielectric film bounded by a ferrite cover are examined theoretically. A dispersion relation based on Jacobian Elliptic Functions is derived, which describes the behaviour of ...

Steady hydroelastic cnoidal wave on a thin flexural plate floating on a shallow water surface
This paper investigates steady nonlinear hydroelastic waves propagating along a thin elastic flexural plate floating on a shallow water surface. In a previous study, some of the present authors developed a numerical method for describing nonlinear ...

Nonlinear Dynamics of Rogue Waves in a Fifth-Order Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation
In this paper, nonlinear dynamics of higher-order rogue waves are investigated for a fifth-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which can depict the Heisenberg ferromagnetic spin chain.

Instability and Evolution of Nonlinearly Interacting Water Waves
We consider the modulational instability of nonlinearly interacting two-dimensional waves in deep water, which are described by a pair of two-dimensional coupled nonlinear Schroedinger equations. We derive a nonlinear dispersion relation.

The interaction of free Rossby waves with semi-transparent equatorial waveguide – wave-mean flow interaction [PDF]
Nonlinear interactions of the barotropic Rossby waves propagating across the equator with trapped baroclinic Rossby or Yanai modes and mean zonal flow are studied within the two-layer model of the atmosphere, or the ocean. It is shown that the equatorial

Orientation Waves in a Director Field With Rotational Inertia
We study the propagation of orientation waves in a director field with rotational inertia and potential energy given by the Oseen-Frank energy functional from the continuum theory of nematic liquid crystals.
