Numerical Exploration of Thermal Shock Resistance in MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A mesostructure‐resolved numerical framework is developed to evaluate the thermal shock resistance of MgO–C refractories. By modeling interface debonding under rapid temperature changes and introducing a modified thermal shock parameter that accounts for mesocracks, the study shows how graphite content and aggregate size influence thermal shock ...

On Nonlinear Coupled System with Nonlocal Boundary Conditions

open access: yesBoletim da Sociedade Paranaense de Matemática, 2003
Summary: We discuss the existence, uniqueness and stability exponential and polynomial of global solutions for a nonlinear coupled system with nonlocal boundary conditions given by \[ \begin{aligned} u_{tt}+\Delta^2u+f(u-v) & =0\text{ in }\Omega\times (0,\infty),\\ v_{tt}-\Delta v-f(u-v)& =0\text{ in }\Omega\times(0,\infty),\\ u=0 \text{ on }\Gamma_0 ...

Nonlocal diffusion equations with dynamical boundary conditions [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2020
In this paper we study nonlocal problems that are analogous to the local ones given by the Laplacian or the p-Laplacian with dynamical boundary conditions. We deal both with smooth and with singular kernels and show existence and uniqueness of solutions and study their asymptotic behaviour as t goes to infinity.

Imaging of Biphoton States: Fundamentals and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum states of two photons exhibit a rich polarization and spatial structure, which provides a fundamental resource of strongly correlated and entangled states. This review analyzes the physics of these intriguing properties and explores the various techniques and technologies available to measure them, including the state of the art of their ...

Investigation of a discrete Sturm–Liouville problem with two-point nonlocal boundary condition and natural approximation of a derivative in boundary condition

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis
The article investigates a discrete Sturm–Liouville problem with one natural boundary condition and another nonlocal two-point boundary condition. We analyze zeroes, poles and critical points of the characteristic function and how the properties of this

Investigation of Negative Critical Points of the Characteristic Function for Problems with Nonlocal Boundary Conditions

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2008
In this paper the Sturm-Liouville problem with one classical and the other nonlocal two-point or integral boundary condition is investigated. Critical points of the characteristic function are analyzed.

The exit-time problem for a Markov jump process

open access: yes, 2014
The purpose of this paper is to consider the exit-time problem for a finite-range Markov jump process, i.e, the distance the particle can jump is bounded independent of its location.

Algorithmic Design of Disordered Networks With Arbitrary Coordination: Application to Biophotonics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Predictive Design of Disordered Networks: Disordered network‐like morphologies are abundant in nature, from cytoskeletal networks to bone structures and chalcogenide glasses. These structures are naturally hard to characterize. A new algorithmic tool extends the established Wooten–Weaire–Winer (WWW) algorithm to valencies above 4.

Fused Ring Engineering Induced Topology Control in Covalent Organic Frameworks: Unlocking Promoted Photocatalytic H2O2 Production and Selective Methane Oxidation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
By modulating the topological structures of two N‐heterocycle‐based covalent organic frameworks, Phen‐TTA with a kgd‐v topology exhibits narrower optical bandgap, lower exciton binding energy, and faster charge‐carrier kinetics compared to O‐TTA with an hcb topology.
