Photonic Time Crystals and Time‐Varying Electromagnetic Metamatter: A New Direction for Ultrafast Tunable Photonic and Microwave Materials and Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are systems in which electromagnetic parameters are modulated periodically in time, producing momentum bandgaps via temporal scattering rather than spatial Bragg processes. This review examines the theoretical frameworks, modeling, and computational tools for time‐varying media, and summarizes experimental demonstrations ...

Minimal Wave Speed for a Nonlocal Viral Infection Dynamical Model

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
To provide insights into the spreading speed and propagation dynamics of viruses within a host, in this paper, we investigate the traveling wave solutions and minimal wave speed for a degenerate viral infection dynamical model with a nonlocal dispersal ...

Selective Confinement by a COF‐Derived Sub‐Nanoporous Interface for High‐Performance CoF2 Thermal Battery Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dissolution and shuttling of TMF cathodes hinders high‐voltage thermal batteries. A novel selective confinement strategy using a sub‐nanoporous COF‐derived carbon interface (0.54 nm pores) on CoF2 suppresses cathode material shuttling. Size‐selective confinement blocks large dissolved ions (∼0.8 nm) while allowing Li⁺ passage, enhancing thermal battery

Super-linear spreading in local and non-local cane toads equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we show super-linear propagation in a nonlocal reaction-diffusion-mutation equation modeling the invasion of cane toads in Australia that has attracted attention recently from the mathematical point of view.

Synergistic Effects of Co‐Activation Agents on an MnO–Activated Carbon Composite Electrode for Electrochemical Supercapacitors

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Carbon materials synthesized from biomass are promising candidates for supercapacitor electrodes. Various activation processes for developing carbon materials with high surface areas have been investigated. Here, a manganese monoxide (MnO)–porous‐activated carbon (AC) composite was fabricated via the chemical activation of coconut shell by the

Thermal Conductance and Mass Transport of Brinkman‐Type Nanofluids Across Porous Plates: A Prabhakar‐Fractional Approach

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The paper establishes an advanced computing algorithm to investigate the thermosolutal dynamics of an electrically conductive Brinkman‐type nanofluid that moves in a porous channel, and the fluid is acted on by an inclined magnetic field exerted externally.

Transforming Coal Waste into Surface‐Engineered Carbons for Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
Coal waste is transformed into surface‐engineered porous carbons that suppress polysulfide shuttling and boost Li–S battery performance. Slow redox kinetics and polysulfide shuttling hinder the practical deployment of lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries.

Existence and uniqueness of positive solutions for a nonlocal dispersal population model

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2014
In this article, we study the solutions of a nonlocal dispersal equation with a spatial weight representing competitions and aggregation. To overcome the limitations of comparison principles, we introduce new definitions of upper-lower solutions. The

Quantum Chemistry Investigation of Linear and Nonlinear (chir)optical Properties of Oligoamide Foldamers

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
The linear and nonlinear (chir)optical properties of four oligoamide foldamers with different donor groups are studied by means of time‐dependent density functional theory calculations. It is shown that stronger donors yield larger hyperpolarizabilities due to low‐lying charge–transfer states. The agreement with the experiments concerning the key bands

Existence, uniqueness and stability of traveling wavefronts for nonlocal dispersal equations with convolution type bistable nonlinearity

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2015
This article concerns the bistable traveling wavefronts of a nonlocal dispersal equation with convolution type bistable nonlinearity. Applying a homotopy method, we establish the existence of traveling wavefronts.
