Coefficient determination via asymptotic spreading speeds [PDF]

open access: yesInverse Problems, 2014
In this paper, we analyze the inverse problem of determining the reaction term f (x, u) in reaction-diffusion equations of the form ∂tu − D∂xxu = f (x, u), where f is assumed to be periodic with respect to x ∈ R. Starting from a family of exponentially decaying initial conditions u0,λ, we show that the solutions uλ of this equation propagate with ...

Asymptotic spreading fastened by inter-specific coupled nonlinearities: A cooperative system [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 2012
This paper is concerned with the asymptotic spreading of a Lotka-Volterra cooperative system. By using the theory of asymptotic spreading of nonautonomous equations, the asymptotic speeds of spreading of unknown functions formulated by a coupled system are estimated.

Asymptotic spreading of predator-prey populations in a shifting environment

open access: yesMathematics in Applied Sciences and Engineering
Inspired by a recent study associating shifting temperature conditions with changes in the efficiency with which predators convert prey to offspring, we propose a predator prey model of reaction-diffusion type to analyze the consequence of such effects ...

ASYMPTOTIC SPREADING IN A COMPETITION SYSTEM WITH NONLOCAL DISPERSAL

open access: yesJournal of Applied Analysis & Computation, 2021
Summary: This paper is concerned with the long time behavior of a competition system with nonlocal dispersal. When the initial conditions of both unknown functions satisfy proper decay behavior, we obtain the rough spreading speed of one unknown function and show the upper and lower bounds of spreading speed of another unknown function.

Asymptotically Optimal Randomized Rumor Spreading [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Discrete Mathematics, 2011
We propose a new protocol solving the fundamental problem of disseminating a piece of information to all members of a group of n players. It builds upon the classical randomized rumor spreading protocol and several extensions. The main achievements are the following: Our protocol spreads the rumor to all other nodes in the asymptotically optimal time ...
