Asymptotic analysis of axisymmetric drop spreading [PDF]

We study in this paper the time evolution of the spreading process of a small drop in contact with a flat dry surface, using asymptotic techniques. We reduced the problem by solving a quasisteady self-similar macroscopic problem and matched with the precursor region solution, where the van der Waals forces are important.

On spreading sequences and asymptotic structures

In the first part of the paper we study the structure of Banach spaces with a conditional spreading basis. The geometry of such spaces exhibits a striking resemblance to the geometry of James space. Further, we show that the averaging projections onto subspaces spanned by constant coefficient blocks with no gaps between supports are bounded.
