Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Nonparametric predictive inference with parametric copula for survival analysis

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Many real-world problems of statistical inference involve dependent bivariate data including survival analysis. This paper presents new nonparametric methods for predictive inference for survival analysis involving a future bivariate observation.

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Robustness Study of Unit Elasticity of Intertemporal Substitution Assumption and Preference Misspecification

open access: yesMathematics
This paper proposes a novel robustness framework for studying the unit elasticity of intertemporal substitution (EIS) assumption based on the Perron-Frobenius sieve estimation model by Christensen, 2017. The sieve nonparametric decomposition is a central

Bootstrap for estimating the mean squared error of the spatial EBLUP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This work assumes that the small area quantities of interest follow a Fay-Herriot model with spatially correlated random area effects. Under this model, parametric and nonparametric bootstrap procedures are proposed for estimating the mean squared ...

A New Nonparametric Approach to Galaxy Morphological Classification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We present two new nonparametric methods for quantifying galaxy morphology: the relative distribution of the galaxy pixel flux values (the Gini coefficient or G) and the second-order moment of the brightest 20% of the galaxy's flux (M20).

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Nonparametric control charts for bivariate high-quality processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
For attribute data with (very) low rates of defectives, attractive control charts can be based on the maximum of subsequent groups of r failure times, for some suitable r≥1, like r=5.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Multiple robustness in factorized likelihood models

open access: yesBiometrika, 2017
Summary We consider inference under a nonparametric or semiparametric model with likelihood that factorizes as the product of two or more variation‐independent factors.
