Peptides encoded by short ORFs control development and define a new eukaryotic gene family.
Despite recent advances in developmental biology, and the sequencing and annotation of genomes, key questions regarding the organisation of cells into embryos remain.

Myocardial Perfusion Defects in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Mutation Carriers
Background Impaired myocardial blood flow (MBF) in the absence of epicardial coronary disease is a feature of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Although most evident in hypertrophied or scarred segments, reduced MBF can occur in apparently normal segments.

Grid functions of nonstandard analysis in the theory of distributions and in partial differential equations [PDF]
We introduce the space of grid functions, a space of generalized functions of nonstandard analysis that provides a coherent generalization both of the space of distributions and of the space of Young measures. We will show that in the space of grid functions it is possible to formulate problems from many areas of functional analysis in a way that ...

It is shown that the index law of the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative is recovered when nonstandard analysis is applied, and then the solutions of Euler’s differential equation are obtained in nonstandard analysis, where infinitesimal number appears. They are given in the form, from which the solutions in distribution theory are obtained.

From Nonstandard Analysis to various flavours of Computability Theory
As suggested by the title, it has recently become clear that theorems of Nonstandard Analysis (NSA) give rise to theorems in computability theory (no longer involving NSA).

F-Products and Nonstandard Hulls for Strongly Continuous One-parameter Semigroups of Linear Operators [PDF]
We give an overview of the F-product construction and the corresponding nonstandard constructions for strongly continuous one-parameter semigroups of linear operators, and show that (in the case of bounded ultrapowers) both constructs are isomorphic ...

A topological interpretation of three Leibnizian principles within the functional extensions
Three philosophical principles are often quoted in connection with Leibniz: "objects sharing the same properties are the same object" (Identity of indiscernibles), "everything can possibly exist, unless it yields contradiction" (Possibility as ...
