Mathematical and numerical studies of nonstandard difference equation models of differential equations. Final technical report, September 1995--September 1997 [PDF]
The major thrust of this proposal was to continue our investigations of so-called non-standard finite-difference schemes as formulated by other authors. These schemes do not follow the standard rules used to model continuous differential equations by discrete difference equations.

A Nonstandard Finite Difference Method for a Generalized Black–Scholes Equation [PDF]
An implicit finite difference scheme for the numerical solution of a generalized Black–Scholes equation is presented. The method is based on the nonstandard finite difference technique.

Mathematical model of ships moving with a nonstandard propulsion and steering complex
The IEC 62065 is the standard with operational requirements, methods of testing and the required test data for tracking systems and the systems of automatic control used in sea navigation. Mathematical modeling in these systems is used to create control algorithms with a proactive effect on the monitored values such as heading of ship and coordination ...

Testing for zero-modification in count regression models [PDF]
Count data often exhibit overdispersion and/or require an adjustment for zero outcomes with respect to a Poisson model. Zero-modified Poisson (ZMP) and zero-modified generalized Poisson (ZMGP) regression models are useful classes of models for such ...

Advances in analysis, probability and mathematical physics: contributions of nonstandard analysis
In 1961 Robinson introduced an entirely new version of the theory of infinitesimals, which he called 'Nonstandard analysis'. 'Nonstandard' here refers to the nature of new fields of numbers as defined by nonstandard models of the first-order theory of ...

Mathematical and Numerical Studies of Nonstandard Difference Equation Models of Differential Equations [PDF]
This research examined the following items/issues: the NSFD methodology, technical achievements and applications, dissemination efforts and research related professional activities. Also a list of unresolved issues were identified that could form the basis for future research in the area of constructing and analyzing NSFD schemes for both ODE's and PDE'

Front Propagation Through a Perforated Wall
ABSTRACT We consider a bistable reaction– diffusion equation ut=Δu+f(u)$u_t=\Delta u +f(u)$ on RN${\mathbb {R}}^N$ in the presence of an obstacle K$K$, which is a wall of infinite span with many holes. More precisely, K$K$ is a closed subset of RN${\mathbb {R}}^N$ with smooth boundary such that its projection onto the x1$x_1$‐axis is bounded and that ...

Matrix Nonstandard Numerical Schemes for Epidemic Models [PDF]
This paper is concerned with the construction and developing of several nonstandard finite difference (NSFD) schemes in matrix form in order to obtain numerical solutions of epidemic models.
