Nonstandard Analysis Applied to Advanced Undergraduate Mathematics - Infinitesimal Modeling

open access: yes, 2003
This is a Research and Instructional Development Project from the U. S. Naval Academy. In this monograph, the basic methods of nonstandard analysis for n-dimensional Euclidean spaces are presented. Specific rules are deveoped and these methods and rules are applied to rigorous integral and differential modeling.

Nature's Complexity Alive: Farewell to Several Unificatory Cosmological Arguments for Monism

open access: yesNoûs, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Throughout history, numerous thinkers have claimed that monism—in the form of priority monism, existence monism, monotheistic monism, or versions that posit an extra‐cosmic ultimate being—theoretically surpasses pluralism, above all by positing a unified universe.

Vanishing Viscosity Regimes and Nonstandard Shock Relations for Semiconductor Superlattices Models

open access: yes, 2011
International audienceThis paper is concerned with the analysis of asymptotic problems from discrete drift-diffusion models describing charge transport in semiconductor superlattices. The regimes we are interested in lead to balance laws.

Exploring 2D Geometric Shape Classification Using AI‐Driven Feature Tables in Mathematics

open access: yesSchool Science and Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explored the effectiveness of an AI‐integrated instructional task designed to enhance preservice teachers' understanding of the features and hierarchical relationships of 2D geometric shapes. Originally developed and tested in online K‐12 professional development settings, this intervention was adapted for in‐person preservice ...

A Nonstandard Finite Difference Scheme for a Mathematical Model Presenting the Climate Change on the Oxygen-plankton System

open access: yesBitlis Eren Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi
This paper presents a mathematical model describing climate change in the oxygen-plankton system. The model consists of a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations. The Nonstandard Finite Difference (NSFD) method is applied to discretize the non-linear system.

Understanding Teacher Candidates' Perspectives on Standard Academic English: A Collaborative Thematic Analysis of Workshop Activities in an Anti‐Racist Teacher Education Course

open access: yesTESOL Journal, Volume 17, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This article presents findings from a workshop in an anti‐racist teacher education course. Drawing from raciolinguistic ideologies, anti‐Black linguistic racism, and Extraordinary Pedagogies rooted in anti‐bigotry praxes, the workshop engaged white teacher candidates (TCs) to interrogate standard academic English as a racialized norm that ...

Nonstandard Foundations of Equilibrium Search Models [PDF]

open access: yes
We develop an equilibrium sequential search model which includes most of the literature as special cases. In particular, the model can accommodate heterogeneity in buyers’ search costs and demand functions and firms’ cost functions, with general demand ...

Weak, Strong and Mixed Extensions of Relations to Spaces of Ultrafilters

open access: yesMathematical Logic Quarterly, Volume 72, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The use of nonstandard methods to characterize properties of weak, strong and mixed extensions of congruences to ultrafilters has been the main topic of several recent papers, focused mostly on congruences and divisions. We show that similar methods can be used to extend these characterizations to arbitrary relations and their interplay.

Neurodevelopmental and Psychiatric Studies in Children and Adolescents With Neurofibromatosis Type I: A Comprehensive Scoping Review

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, Volume 201, Issue 4, Page 257-269, June 2026.
ABSTRACT A comprehensive synthesis of the broad range of neurodevelopmental and psychiatric manifestations in NF1 is needed to identify knowledge gaps and future directions for NF1 research. In the following scoping review, we identify and summarize the scope of research that examines neurodevelopmental and psychiatric manifestations, both as ...

Hyperordinals and nonstandard alpha-models

open access: yes, 1996
In this paper we extend the traditional set-theoretic notion of standard models and nonstandard models going up to alpha levels in the cumulative hierarchy, alpha any given limit ordinal.
