Platelet aggregation in normal pregnancy
Clinica Chimica Acta, 2022It was recently shown that abnormal platelet aggregation (PA) had played a critical role in some adverse pregnancies. Till now reference range for PA in normal pregnancy has not been determined. Furthermore, few study has been conducted to explore the factors related to PA. Our study was performed to assess the reference range of PA in normal pregnancy

Baroreflex Function in Normal Pregnancy
Survey of Anesthesiology, 1991The sinoaortic baroreflex is one of the primary mechanisms that regulates blood pressure. Decreased baroreflex sensitivity has been reported in preeclampsia. We sought to determine whether pregnancy altered baroreflex sensitivity. From a radial artery catheter, heart rate and mean arterial pressure were recorded continuously onto a polygraph. The ratio

Platelet values during normal pregnancy
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1985SummaryBlood samples were obtained from 26 healthy women at regular intervals throughout pregnancy and analysed using a Coulter Counter Model S Plus III. The mean values for the various haematological indices at each stage o f gestation were first calculated; the platelet count showed a small decrease throughout pregnancy as did haemoglobin ...

Blood rheology during normal pregnancy [PDF]
INTRODUCTION: Recent studies have shown increased RBC aggregation and no difference in plasma viscosity in the presence of markedly lower hematocrit in women at term compared to non-pregnant women. Little is known about the outcome of blood rheological parameters and red blood cell (RBC) deformability particularly in the course of normal pregnancy ...

Tolbutamide Response in Normal Pregnancy
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1965Intravenous tolbutamide was administered to 12 normal patients during the last month of pregnancy and again post partum. Blood glucose and plasma insulin were measured before and after the stimulus. It was shown that tolbutamide causes the pancreas to release insulin during pregnancy and also that the pancreas is hyperfunctioning during pregnancy.

Physiology of normal pregnancy
Critical Care Clinics, 2004The pregnant patient in the intensive care unit (ICU) poses many challenges. Physicians and nurses need to understand the basic concepts of maternal physiology and fetal physiology. The physicians must care for the mother and consider the potential adverse effects that diagnostic and therapeutic interventions might have on the fetus.
