The North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) is the primary atmospheric-oceanic circulation/teleconnection influencing regional climate in Great Britain. As our ability to predict the NAO several months in advance increases, it is important that we improve our ...

Temporal variations in English Populations of a forest insect pest, the green spruce aphid (Elatobium abietinum), associated with the North Atlantic Oscillation and global warming [PDF]
Based on an exceptionally long modern ecological dataset (41 years), it has been possible to show that warm weather in England associated with a positive North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) index causes the spring migration of the green spruce aphid ...

Changes in the North Atlantic Oscillation over the 20th century [PDF]
The North Atlantic Oscillation explains a large fraction of the climate variability across the North Atlantic from the eastern seaboard of North America across the whole of Europe.

The North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) drives biological responses in terrestrial ecosystems through oscillatory modes of climatic variability. Here, the authors show how landscape scale productivity responses to NAO are contingent upon the Atlantic ...

Synergistic effects of the winter North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) on dust activities in North China during the following spring [PDF]
Dust significantly influences global weather and climate by impacting the Earth's radiative balance. Based on reanalysis datasets, this study explores how the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) during winter impact ...

Seasonal forecast systems have demonstrated significant skill in forecasting the winter North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) in recent years. This skill is a result of influences that have remote origins, such as the El Niño-Southern Oscillation or the ...

The North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and the water temperature of the Sava River in Serbia
The data on the water temperature of the Sava in Serbia (hydrological stations Sabac and Belgrade, period 1961-2015) were used for the research, as well as the data on the surface air temperature. The temperature trends were determined and the significance (at p lt = 0.05 and p lt = 0.01) was established on the basis of the t-test.

North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) Climate Index Hidden in Ocean Generated Secondary Microseisms
AbstractWith the role of surface winds in the generation of ocean waves, secondary microseisms induced by ocean wave‐wave interactions represent a unique interconnection between the solid Earth, the ocean and global atmospheric circulation patterns.
