Prediction of Structural Stability of Layered Oxide Cathode Materials: Combination of Machine Learning and Ab Initio Thermodynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we developed a phase‐stability predictor by combining machine learning and ab initio thermodynamics approaches, and identified the key factors determining the favorable phase for a given composition. Specifically, a lower TM ionic potential, higher Na content, and higher mixing entropy favor the O3 phase.

The Mediterranean deep-sea fauna: historical evolution, bathymetric variations and geographical changes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The deep-water fauna of the Mediterranean is characterized by an absence of distinctive characteristics and by a relative impoverishment. Both are a result of events after the Messinian salinity crisis (Late Miocene).

opXRD: Open Experimental Powder X‐Ray Diffraction Database

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We introduce the Open Experimental Powder X‐ray Diffraction Database, the largest openly accessible collection of experimental powder diffractograms, comprising over 92,000 patterns collected across diverse material classes and experimental setups. Our ongoing effort aims to guide machine learning research toward fully automated analysis of pXRD data ...

Fraud and Enforceability: Potential Implications for Federal Circuit Litigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Should fraudulent litigation tactics and testimony affect the validity of underlying patents? What results are possible if the enforceability of a patent turns on the conduct of the applying party not only before the Patent and Trademark Office, but also

Accelerating Primary Screening of USP8 Inhibitors from Drug Repurposing Databases with Tree‐Based Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This study introduces a tree‐based machine learning approach to accelerate USP8 inhibitor discovery. The best‐performing model identified 100 high‐confidence repurposable compounds, half already approved or in clinical trials, and uncovered novel scaffolds not previously studied. These findings offer a solid foundation for rapid experimental follow‐up,

Game‐based learning for undergraduate consolidation: A qualitative study of how game‐based learning provides much more than knowledge acquisition

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Game‐based learning (GBL) is increasingly used in medical education to supplement traditional didactic learning methods. Adult learners in particular may benefit from GBL, given the autonomous and iterative nature of a well‐designed educational game.
