Notostraca and Allies (Calmanostraca)

2022
Abstract The living Notostraca, ranging up to 10 cm in length, are a small group (approximately 11 species), but the larger assemblage of fossils (including Kazacharthra and the problematic Castrocollida) provides added depth and interest, thus facilitating the creation of a cohort Calmanostraca within infraclass Phyllopoda.

Notostraca Sars 1867

Reproduction in Notostraca (Crustacea)

Nature, 1954
IN some species of Notostraca, populations occur in which no males are found and these have generally been considered to reproduce by parthenogenesis; the European Triops (=Apus) cancriformis (Bosc.) exhibits a geographical variation in the occurrence of males, which are less common, or absent, in the north of its range, so that the species has been ...

Heart ultrastructure in Lepidurus arcticus pallas (Crustacea, Branchiopoda, Notostraca)

Cell and Tissue Research, 1980
The heart of Lepidurus arcticus consists of an epicardium and a single layer of strongly polarized myocardial cells, 10-50 micron thick, with the myofibrillar part facing the epicardium. The Z-bands are diffuse and some Z-material forms attachment plaques. Relaxed sarcomeres show a hexagonal arrangement of thick filaments and 6 thin filaments in orbit,
