Improving Egg Quality in Tropical Environments: Assessing the Maize Meal Replacement by Wheat Bran and Soybean Oil in Laying Hen Diets. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Sci
This study demonstrates that replacing maize meal with wheat bran (WB) in laying hen diets, with or without soybean oil, maintains egg quality while enhancing economic performance through increased profitability and contribution margins. The results suggest that WB can be effectively utilized in monogastric animal feeding systems.

Rank‐based data synthesis of heterogeneous trials to identify the effects of climatic factors on the reaction of Musa genotypes to black leaf streak disease

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 115, Issue 6, Page 2990-3009, November/December 2023., 2023
Abstract Synthesis of crop trial data can generate insights that are not available from the analysis of individual studies, but such synthesis is often constrained by the heterogeneity of data among studies. Rank‐based data synthesis provides the flexibility to combine data of heterogeneous types and from different sources.

The linguistic characterisation of Galdós’s characters in his last play, Santa Juana de Castilla

open access: yesOrbis Litterarum, Volume 78, Issue 1, Page 45-58, February 2023., 2023
Abstract In this work I propose to examine the linguistic characterisation of the characters in Galdós’s last play, Santa Juana de Castilla (Saint Joanna of Castile, 1918). The analysis will show that in addition to the use of archaic language, the purpose of which may be to evoke the era, the linguistic style of the play is characterised by the use of

A novel missense variant in CEACAM16 gene causes autosomal dominant nonsyndromic hearing loss

open access: yesAnnals of Human Genetics, Volume 86, Issue 4, Page 207-217, July 2022., 2022
Abstract Aim Autosomal dominant non‐syndromic hearing loss is a common sensorineural disorder with extremely high genetic heterogeneity. CEA antigen‐related cell adhesion molecule 16(CEACAM16)is a secreted glycoprotein encoded by the CEACAM16 gene. Mutations in CEACAM16 lead to autosomal dominant non‐syndromic hearing loss in humans, due defects in the

Whole genome sequencing identifies rare genetic variants in familial pancreatic cancer patients

open access: yesAnnals of Human Genetics, Volume 86, Issue 4, Page 195-206, July 2022., 2022
Abstract Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) represents one of the most lethal malignancies with very high mortality and short survival time. About 5–10% of the PDAC patients have a familial predisposition to the disease designated as familial pancreatic cancer (FPC), suggesting genetic modulation of FPC pathogenesis. It is estimated that currently

Aesthetic Revolution: How Art Shapes Social Worlds

open access: yesSocial and Personality Psychology Compass, Volume 20, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Art inhabits the imagination, but can it influence real‐world issues? While some scholars cast art as autonomous from moral and civic life, others see it as deeply entangled with the social world. We address this debate by synthesizing evidence on art's social influence across literature, music, visual art, and film.

Fury and the antitheatrical prejudice: The violent power of play‐acting in the Cervantine picaresque

open access: yesOrbis Litterarum, Volume 81, Issue 1, Page 11-26, February 2026.
Abstract The article studies a cross‐generic relation between theatrical performance and the outbreak of violence in picaresque contexts across works by Miguel de Cervantes. It then proceeds to contextualize these persistent incidents within the philosophical history of antitheatricality.

Developing biobanking processes for Alzheimer's disease and related dementia research in Africa: Experience from the Recruitment and Retention for Alzheimer's Disease Diversity in the Alzheimer's Disease Sequencing Project (READD‐ADSP)

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract The Recruitment and Retention for Alzheimer's Disease Diversity in the Alzheimer's Disease Sequencing Project (READD‐ADSP) aims to recruit 5000 African participants (Alzheimer's disease [AD] and cognitively unimpaired controls) to generate genomic and biomarker data to better characterize AD neurobiology in Africa from countries that ...
