Wire‐Laser‐Directed Energy Deposition of Ti‐6Al‐4V Alloy Under Vacuum: Effect of Substrate Preheating on the Refinement of Prior‐β Grain Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Microstructural evolution of Laser beam Direct Energy Deposition (DED‐LB)/Ti64, showing changes in microstructure after employing a preheated build platform, as evaluated by both optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy/electron backscatter diffraction (SEM/EBSD), highlighting changes in grain morphology, the formation of equiaxed grains ...

Elliptic supersonic jet morphology manipulation using sharp-tipped lobes

open access: yes, 2020
Elliptic nozzle geometry is attractive for mixing enhancement of supersonic jets. However, jet dynamics, such as flapping, gives rise to high-intensity tonal sound.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

3D Bioprinting of Thick Adipose Tissues with Integrated Vascular Hierarchies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
An advanced 3D bioprinting technique is used here to create thick adipose tissues with a central, vessel and extensive branching. The construct is made using alginate, gelatin and collagen‐based bioinks. Flow through the complex vessel network is demonstrated as well as its successful integration with a femoral artery following implantation in a rat ...

High‐Performance Low‐Emissivity Paints Enabled by N‐Doped Poly(benzodifurandione) (n‐PBDF) for Energy‐Efficient Buildings

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a scalable and colored low‐emissivity (low‐e) paint achieved by spraying an ultrathin n‐doped poly(benzodifurandione) (n‐PBDF) coating onto various colored substrates. The low‐e paint enhances thermal regulation by reducing mid‐infrared thermal emissivity to 0.19, thereby stabilizing indoor temperatures across diverse climates ...

Numerical investigation of turbulent gas flow in an over-expanded nozzle flows: hysteresis phenomenon and asymmetrical configuration

open access: yesRevue des Énergies Renouvelables, 2017
The flow in an Over-Expanded Nozzle is subjected to shock waves leading to the unsteady separation of the boundary layer. Free detachment may be followed by a restricted detachment.
