New technical solutions for the design of NPP passive safety systems [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Energy and Technology
The paper describes the new principle of passive NPP safety systems designing, in which the natural circulation of working fluid or gas is replaced by forced circulation in order to increase it’s capacity.

Autonomous Thermosiphon System of Passive Residual Heat Removal from the Primary Circuit of the Reactor Plant: Features of Operation, Characteristics and Basic Advantages

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений и энергетических объединенний СНГ: Энергетика, 2023
An autonomous system of passive removal of residual heat (PRRHS) of a reactor installation with VVER designed to ensure the safety of nuclear power plants in an accident with complete long-term blackout is considered.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Analysis of long-term monitoring data around the area of localization of nuclear-hazardous clusters in the "Shelter" Object [PDF]

open access: yesЯдерна фізика та енергетика
The results of a comprehensive analysis of neutron flux density (NFD), gamma-radiation exposure dose rate (GDR), dynamics of concrete temperature and air humidity in the vicinity of nuclearly hazardous fuel-containing material cluster (NHC) in room 305/2

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Results of analysis of temperature monitoring data around the nuclearly hazardous cluster of fuel-containing materials in the sub-reactor room 305/2 of the "Shelter" object, inside and outside the new safe confinement [PDF]

open access: yesЯдерна фізика та енергетика
The results of the analysis of temperature monitoring data were obtained using the information and measuring system (IMS) "Finish" (1991 - 2015) and expert research system, new safe confinement (NSC) integrated control system in the main volume (MV ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.
