Nuclear Theory and Science of the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams
The Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) will be a world-leading laboratory for the study of nuclear structure, reactions and astrophysics. Experiments with intense beams of rare isotopes produced at FRIB will guide us toward a comprehensive ...

Neutrinoless double β decay with light sterile neutrinos: the contact terms
We study neutrinoless double-beta decay in extensions of the Standard Model that include n right-handed neutrino singlets, with masses m s below the GeV scale. Generalizing recently developed matching methods, we determine the m s dependence of the short-

Influence of Surface Tension on Nuclear Collective Properties [PDF]
Rigidities of even-even nuclei were estimated and compared with nuclear charge radii. Correlation of maximal nuclear rigidities with minimal values of r0 parameters was revealed. Influence of effective surface tension on nuclear properties was discussed.

Ab Initio Nuclear Reaction Theory with Applications to Astrophysics [PDF]
We present an introduction to ab initio nuclear theory with a focus on nuclear reactions. After a high-level overview of ab initio approaches in nuclear physics, we give a more detailed description of the no-core shell model technique equivalent to a large extent to configuration-interaction methods applied in quantum chemistry.

Hyperons in nuclear matter from SU(3) chiral effective field theory
Brueckner theory is used to investigate the properties of hyperons in nuclear matter. The hyperon-nucleon interaction is taken from chiral effective field theory at next-to-leading order with SU(3) symmetric low-energy constants.

Oscillating shells and oscillating balls in AdS
It has recently been reported that certain thin timelike shells undergo oscillatory motion in AdS. In this paper, we compute two-point function of a probe field in the geodesic approximation in such an oscillating shell background.

Brueckner Theory of Nuclear Matter with Nonnucleonic Degrees of Freedom and Relativity [PDF]
For the past 40 years, Brueckner theory has proven to be a most powerful tool to investigate systematically models for nuclear matter. I will give an overview of the work done on nuclear matter theory, starting with the simplest model and proceeding step

Maximal chaos from strings, branes and Schwarzian action
In this article, we explicitly demonstrate that, for a sufficiently generic class of examples, an open string embedded in an AdS-background yields an effective Schwarzian action and, in the semi-classical description, the fluctuation modes of the open ...
