Rational recognition of nucleic acid sequences

Current Opinion in Biotechnology, 1999
Recent progress in synthetic and computational chemistry has made it possible to develop certain novel drug candidates. Drug candidates for genetic diseases, such as cancer, may also be designed on the basis of structural information obtained using X-ray analysis and NMR, as well as evidence from biological techniques applied to natural products - DNA (

Protein and Nucleic Acid Sequence Database Systems.

Annual Review of Biophysics and Bioengineering, 1983
Of all of the information in the life sciences, the chemical structures of the nucleic acids and proteins are among the most fundamental. Their importance is reflected by the large number of research workers currently involved in sequencing studies and ...

Doublet frequencies in sequenced nucleic acids

Journal of Molecular Evolution, 1975
A doublet frequency count (set of frequencies of the 16 possible two-base sequences) can be calculated from the experimentally determined overall sequence of a nucleic acid. In this paper, a statistical methodology is developed for comparing such counts with random, with others of the same type or with doublet proportions found in whole DNAs.

Nucleic Acid Sequence Determination

1980
It is often emphasised how closely the structure and function of biological materials are related to each other. This is certainly true for all biological macromolecules, but to some extent it is also true for any chemical substance: whether it takes part in a simple chemical reaction or in a complex biological process, the function of the molecule is ...

Sequences in Genetic Nucleic Acids

1973
The basic chemical material of the gene is DNA and all the information for the developing organism is contained in the form of a specific nucleotide sequence in this DNA. In order to understand the gene more fully and the way in which the information is encoded it is necessary to study these nucleotide sequences.

Nucleic acid sequence analysis software for microcomputers

Analytical Biochemistry, 1990
It is clear that a computer-aided data control system is required for even small laboratories generating nucleic acid data. While the molecular biologist at many universities and large research institutions has access to mainframe computers and nucleic acid sequence analysis software, many find it more convenient to perform sequence analysis on ...
