RNA Binding of Recombinant Nucleocapsid Proteins of Hantaviruses
Virology, 1993Genes encoding the nucleocapsid (N) proteins of two hantaviruses, Hantaan virus strain 76-118 (HTN) and Puumala virus strain CG 18-20 (PUU), were expressed in Escherichia coli as histidine-tagged proteins. They were purified by metal-chelate affinity chromatography under native or denaturing conditions to near homogeneity.

Analysis of Multimerization of the SARS Coronavirus Nucleocapsid Protein
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), an emerging disease characterized by atypical pneumonia, has recently been attributed to a novel coronavirus. The genome of SARS Coronavirus (SARS-CoV) has recently been sequenced, and a number of genes identified, including that of the nucleocapsid protein (N).

Association of the Sendai virus C protein with nucleocapsids
Archives of Virology, 1990The subcellular localization of the nonstructural protein C of Sendai virus was investigated by means of indirect immunofluorescence microscopy of Sendai virus-infected cells, using an antiserum specific for C protein. In infected cells, C protein was detected exclusively in the cytoplasm as granular fluorescence, which coincided very well with the ...

In vitro assembly of bovine rotavirus nucleocapsid protein
Virology, 1987The nucleocapsid protein (VP6) of bovine rotavirus was purified from in vitro-derived single shelled particles by CaCl2 or LiCl treatment. The protein exhibits polymorphism. Specifically, hexamers and small hexagonal lattices were present in many of the samples.

Overview of the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein
International Journal of Biological MacromoleculesSince the emergence of SARS-CoV in 2003, researchers worldwide have been toiling away at deciphering this virus's biological intricacies. In line with other known coronaviruses, the nucleocapsid (N) protein is an important structural component of SARS-CoV. As a result, much emphasis has been placed on characterizing this protein.

Baculovirus Expression of Turkey Coronavirus Nucleocapsid Protein
Avian Diseases, 2001The nucleocapsid (N) gene of turkey coronavirus (TCV) was amplified by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction, cloned, and expressed in the baculovirus expression system. A recombinant baculovirus containing the TCV N gene (rBTCV/N) was identified by polymerase chain reaction and expression of TCV N protein as determined by western immunoblot ...

Equine cytomegalovirus: Structural proteins of virions and nucleocapsids
Virology, 1984Enveloped virions and nucleocapsids of equine cytomegalovirus (ECMV; equine herpesvirus type 2) have been purified from the supernatants and the nuclear extracts of infected rabbit kidney (RK) cells, respectively, and their structural protein compositions have been analyzed.

Low Stability of Nucleocapsid Protein in SARS Virus
Biochemistry, 2004The nucleocapsid protein (N protein) is one of the major virion structural proteins of a newly identified coronavirus, which has been confirmed as the causative agent of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). The major function of N protein is to assemble the RNA of coronavirus.
