Papillary and ductal patterns of mesonephric‐like adenocarcinomas are often overlooked: a retrospective revaluation of over 1000 endometrial carcinomas

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 86, Issue 6, Page 862-877, May 2025.
Mesonephric‐like adenocarcinomas can be misclassified as other Müllerian carcinomas. Papillary (A, B), mixed papillary/ductal (C) or ductal (D) patterns can be overlooked. Aims Mesonephric‐like adenocarcinoma (MLA) of the endometrium is often a diagnostic challenge, due to its morphological resemblance to other more common Müllerian neoplasms.

Intranodal thyroid inclusions revisited: a morphological analysis and application of BRAF VE1 immunohistochemistry

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 86, Issue 6, Page 878-890, May 2025.
In this study, we highlight the underrecognized phenomenon of intranodal thyroid inclusions coexisting with metastatic papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) within the same lymph node. The thyroid inclusions may appear cytologically bland (A‐D) or show various degrees of nuclear changes (E‐H).

Diagnostic interobserver variability of atypia assessment in columnar cell lesions among a group of expert breast pathologists in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, on behalf of the UK national coordinating committee for breast pathology

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 86, Issue 6, Page 953-966, May 2025.
Interobserver agreement for the presence of atypia in columnar cell lesions is poor, even among breast pathology experts. This can be improved through consensus meetings, but a subset of cases defy classification, because the current definition of flat epithelial atypia does not encompass the range of cytological and architectural atypia observed in ...

Interobserver reproducibility of a hybrid three‐tier grading system of papillary nonmuscle invasive urothelial carcinoma: an international Uropathology study

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
Hybrid grading of papillary nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer showed substantial agreement as assessed by interrater kappa values. This suggests that urologic pathologists can readily adapt to using a three‐tier hybrid grading system. Aims A hybrid‐three tier system with low grade (LG), high grade‐ G2 (HG‐G2), high grade‐ G3 (HG‐G3) has been proposed ...
