Three-Dimensional Structure of Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinase
Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 2000Three-dimensional structures are known from X-ray studies of the nucleoside diphosphate (NDP) kinase of many organisms from bacteria to human. All NDP kinases have subunits of about 150 residues with a very similar fold based on the alphabeta sandwich or ferredoxin fold.

Regulation of Dynamin by Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinase
Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 2003Nucleoside diphosphate (NDP) kinase is required for multiple cellular functions, including cell growth, motility, and differentiation, and its loss is associated with pathologies including tumor metastasis. A recent study has revealed a previously unknown function for NDP kinase as positive regulator of dynamin, a GTPase essential for endocytosis.

Nm23/Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinase in Human Cancers
Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 2000Tumor metastasis is the leading cause of death in cancer patients. From a series of tumor cohort studies, low expression of Nm23/NDP kinase has been correlated with poor patient prognosis and survival, lymph node infiltration, and histopathological indicators of high metastatic potential in a number of cancer types, including mammary and ovarian ...

The Catalytic Mechanism of Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinases
Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 2000Nucleoside diphosphate kinases catalyze the reversible transfer of the gamma phosphate of nucleoside triphosphates to nucleoside diphosphates. This minireview presents recent advances in understanding the reaction mechanism using steady-state and fast kinetic studies, X-ray crystallography, and site-directed mutagenesis.

Metabolic Functions of Microbial Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinases
Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 2000This article summarizes research from our laboratory on two aspects of the biochemistry of nucleoside diphosphate kinase from Escherichia coli--first, its interactions with several T4 bacteriophage-coded enzymes, as part of a multienzyme complex for deoxyribonucleoside triphosphate biosynthesis. We identify some of the specific interactions and discuss

Nucleoside diphosphate kinase from Artemia embryos
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1984Abstract 1. 1. Nucleoside diphosphate kinase (EC. 2.7.4.6) has been purified 1900-fold with 17% yield from Artemia dormant embryos. 2. 2. The purified enzyme exhibits a ping-pong mechanism of reaction. The calculated Km values for ADP, GTP, ITP, UTP and CTP are 0.04, 0.17, 0.25, 0.27 and 0.62 mM, respectively. 3. 3.

NM23/Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinase and Signal Transduction
Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 2000NM23s (or NDP kinases) regulate a fascinating variety of cellular activities, including proliferation, development, and differentiation. All these processes are modulated by external stimuli, leading to the idea that this family of proteins modulates transmembrane signaling pathways.

Antiviral Nucleoside Analogs Phosphorylation by Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinase
Mini Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry, 2004The reaction of NDP kinase was studied in vitro with several antiviral derivatives, using kinetic steady state and presteady state analysis. The enzyme is highly efficient with natural nucleotides but most of the analogs are slow substrates. The catalytic efficiency, also related to the affinity of the analog, is mainly dependent on the presence of a 3'

Post-translational processing of Drosophila nucleoside diphosphate kinase
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2002Nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDPK) was purified from Drosophila melanogaster by a combination of anion-exchange, hydroxyapatite, and reversed-phase chromatography. The identity of the purified enzyme was confirmed by sequencing internal peptides (the N-terminus appeared to be blocked).

Role of Mg2+in Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinase Autophosphorylation
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1998Nucleoside diphosphate (NDP) kinase is a ubiquitous enzyme that has been described to have regulatory functions. In addition to its classical enzymatic activity, NDP kinases have been characterized as inhibitors of metastasis, as a factor stimulating gene transcription, and as a protein kinase.
