Metabolic Functions of Microbial Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinases
Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 2000This article summarizes research from our laboratory on two aspects of the biochemistry of nucleoside diphosphate kinase from Escherichia coli--first, its interactions with several T4 bacteriophage-coded enzymes, as part of a multienzyme complex for deoxyribonucleoside triphosphate biosynthesis. We identify some of the specific interactions and discuss

Phosphorylation of Anti-HIV Nucleoside Analogs by Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinase
Nucleosides and Nucleotides, 1999The reaction of NDP kinase with antiviral nucleoside triphosphates used in antiviral therapies was studied at the presteady state by fluorescence stopped-flow and compared with the steady-state parameters. The affinity of the analogs was determined by fluorescence titration of a mutated enzyme with an inserted Trp in the binding site. The lack of the 3'

Nucleoside diphosphate kinase from Artemia embryos
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1984Abstract 1. 1. Nucleoside diphosphate kinase (EC. 2.7.4.6) has been purified 1900-fold with 17% yield from Artemia dormant embryos. 2. 2. The purified enzyme exhibits a ping-pong mechanism of reaction. The calculated Km values for ADP, GTP, ITP, UTP and CTP are 0.04, 0.17, 0.25, 0.27 and 0.62 mM, respectively. 3. 3.

NM23/Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinase and Signal Transduction
Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 2000NM23s (or NDP kinases) regulate a fascinating variety of cellular activities, including proliferation, development, and differentiation. All these processes are modulated by external stimuli, leading to the idea that this family of proteins modulates transmembrane signaling pathways.

Post-translational processing of Drosophila nucleoside diphosphate kinase
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2002Nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDPK) was purified from Drosophila melanogaster by a combination of anion-exchange, hydroxyapatite, and reversed-phase chromatography. The identity of the purified enzyme was confirmed by sequencing internal peptides (the N-terminus appeared to be blocked).

Nucleoside mono- and diphosphate kinases of Ascaris lumbricoides
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1961Abstract 1. (1) The reproductive tract of Ascaris lumbricoides contains high activities of AMP and GMP kinases and low activities of UMP and CMP kinases. The kinases for the first mentioned nucleoside monophosphates were partially purified and show to be separate enzymes. 2. (2) Some properties of the kinases were studied. The specificity for

Role of Mg2+in Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinase Autophosphorylation
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1998Nucleoside diphosphate (NDP) kinase is a ubiquitous enzyme that has been described to have regulatory functions. In addition to its classical enzymatic activity, NDP kinases have been characterized as inhibitors of metastasis, as a factor stimulating gene transcription, and as a protein kinase.

Enzymic memory studies with nucleoside-5′-diphosphate kinase
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1980Abstract Steady-state kinetic tests for enzymic memory were carried out with nucleoside-5′-diphosphate kinase (EC 2.7.4.6). The results were positive, with differences as large as 10-fold in the dTDP reactivities of phosphoryl enzymes obtained with five different nucleoside triphosphates as donor substrates.

The compartmentation of nucleoside diphosphate kinase in mitochondria
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 1995The compartmentation of nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDPK) was studied in mitochondria isolated from heart and liver of rat, rabbit, and pigeon. Compartmentation was assessed by determining latencies of enzyme activities, fractionating mitochondria with digitonin, and treating mitochondria with trypsin in the presence and absence of digitonin.
