Abacavir: it’s use and hypersensitivity
Abacavir, a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor, is useful in first and second line therapy as well as a substitute for Stavudine and Zidovudine for toxicity. Although safe and well tolerated, a life threatening hypersensitivity reaction can occur.

Clinical, virological and biochemical evidence supporting the association of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase polymorphism R284K and thymidine analogue resistance mutations M41L, L210W and T215Y in patients failing tenofovir/emtricitabine therapy [PDF]
Background: Thymidine analogue resistance mutations (TAMs) selected under treatment with nucleoside analogues generate two distinct genotypic profiles in the HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT): (i) TAM1: M41L, L210W and T215Y, and (ii) TAM2: D67N, K70R and

Abstract Background Darunavir‐based antiretroviral therapy (ART) is commonly used in people with HIV who experience adherence challenges and/or have complex resistance patterns. Changes in ART commissioning have led to an increased use of Bictegravir/Emtricitabine/Tenofovir alafenamide (B/F/TAF) in these populations despite limited real‐world outcome ...

Mutations in HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT) that confer nucleoside analog RT inhibitor resistance have highlighted the functional importance of several active site residues (M184, Q151 and K65) in RT catalytic function. Of these, K65 residue is notable

Interactions of tenofovir, lamivudine, abacavir and didanosine in primary human cells [PDF]
Certain triple nucleoside/tide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) regimens containing tenofovir (TDF) have been associated with rapid early treatment failure. The mechanism is unknown, but may be at the level of drug transport.

A study on individualized regimen for north Indians living with human immunodeficiency virus-1 subtype C: A public health approach [PDF]
Background: The study analyses several first line and second line drugs, CD4 counts and viral load in patients experiencing treatment failure over a period of 1 to 6 years of first line Antiretroviral Therapy (ART).
