CST Is Epistatic With Shieldin to Limit DNA Double‐Strand Break End Resection and Promote Repair During Igh Class Switch Recombination

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 55, Issue 4, April 2025.
Here we show that CST and SHLD are required for CSR, while SHLD1‐CTC1 interaction via the SHLD1 LDLP motif is dispensable. Mechanistically, we show that CTC1 and SHLD1 are epistatic during CSR, preventing genetic instability, exacerbated DSB end‐resection, and microhomology‐mediated end‐joining at Igh switching sites.

Specificity landscapes of 40 R2R3‐MYBs reveal how paralogs target different cis‐elements by homodimeric binding

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 4, Issue 2, April 2025.
Closely related transcription factor (TF) paralogs are facing the “specificity paradox”—they share similar binding motifs, but their cis‐regulatory targets and physiological roles can be different. By applying high‐throughput SELEX to 40 R2R3‐MYB TFs, this study currently generates the largest data set illustrating the homodimeric specificities of ...

Phenotyping, genome‐wide dissection, and prediction of maize root architecture for temperate adaptability

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 4, Issue 2, April 2025.
This study dissects the genetic architecture of maize Root System Architecture, identifying significant root trait differences between tropical/subtropical and temperate lines. Using genome‐wide association study, 3511 genes were linked to root morphology, weight, and slice traits.

Calcium Handling Machinery and Sarcomere Assembly are Impaired Through Multipronged Mechanisms in Cancer Cytokine‐Induced Cachexia

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 16, Issue 2, April 2025.
Abstract Background Cachexia is a severe form of muscle wasting disorder particularly observed in patients with advanced cancer. The absence of effective strategies to ameliorate cachexia indicates our poor understanding of the mechanisms of cachexia. By employing system‐wide approaches, we investigated molecular mechanisms underlying cancer secreted ...
