Ultrastructural expansion microscopy reveals unexpected levels of glycosome heterogeneity in African trypanosomes

Abstract Kinetoplastid parasites include several species. Trypanosoma brucei causes African sleeping sickness in humans and a wasting disease nagana in livestock. Trypanosoma cruzi is the causative agent of Chagas disease and Leishmania species cause leishmaniasis, which can present with visceral, cutaneous, or mucocutaneous symptoms.

Enzymatic strategies for phosphorus utilization in periphyton: A study of alkaline phosphatase kinetics in post‐mining lakes

Abstract Alkaline phosphatase (AP) plays an important role in phosphorus (P) cycling in aquatic ecosystems, particularly under nutrient limitation. In post‐mining lakes of Czechia, periphyton forms extensive mats despite chronic P deficiency, suggesting dissolved organic P (DOP) may serve as a key P source.

This review highlights the manifold mechanistic aspects of the link between the pathogenesis of periodontitis, addressing these numerous factors to supplement the long‐standing knowledge of the progression of the disease.

Multi‐Omics Signatures of Periodontitis and Periodontal Therapy on the Oral and Gut Microbiome

This multi‐omics study integrates shotgun metagenomics and NMR metabolomics to reveal coordinated microbial and metabolic signatures of periodontitis across the oral–gut axis. Non‐surgical periodontal therapy partially restored ecological and functional balance, supporting oral health as a modifiable driver of systemic microbial homeostasis.

Discrete and cell‐specific hypoxic responses in Arabidopsis roots resolved by single‐nuclei transcriptomics

Summary With the intensification of unpredictable flooding events because of global warming, there is a need to understand how root cells perceive and respond to oxygen deprivation. The use of high‐throughput single‐nuclei RNA‐sequencing (snRNA‐Seq) allows the examination of gene expression profiles in discrete cell types.
