We study the numerical performance of a continuous data assimilation (downscaling) algorithm, based on ideas from feedback control theory, in the context of the two-dimensional incompressible Navier--Stokes equations.

ABSTRACT Estimates of reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from lower demand for cattle‐based products must account for substitution effects. This study collected data through two surveys—one on ground beef and another on dairy milk—to evaluate substitution effects and potential GHG reductions.

In this paper we propose a continuous data assimilation (downscaling) algorithm for a two-dimensional B\'enard convection problem. Specifically we consider the two-dimensional Boussinesq system of a layer of incompressible fluid between two solid ...

Swedish farmers' approval of nudges
Abstract Interest in the use of behavioral policy approaches, such as nudges, has strongly increased over the past years, including in the domains of food, agricultural and environmental policies. While the approval of nudges among the general public has been studied extensively, we know little about the attitude of farmers toward nudging. Farmers may (

The role of the sea-surface temperature distribution on numerically simulated cyclogenesis during ERICA [PDF]
The goal was to quantify the extent to which a sea surface temperature (SST) front can influence cyclogenesis. The approach was to use the Drexel Limited-Area Mesoscale Prediction System (LAMPS) dynamical model to simulate cyclogenesis over various SST ...

ABSTRACT The Cordillera Administrative Region in the Philippines is home to terraced rice embedded in centuries of cultural heritage. However, weak market incentives threaten sustained production, jeopardizing indigenous communities' cultural heritage and the in situ biodiversity of rice genetic resources.

We herein report the synthesis of a new heteroheptacene derivative with periodically incorporated six boron atoms. This compound exhibits dual fluorescence attributed to two interconvertible conformers that result from a delicate balance between the extended π‐system and the steric demand of bulky aryl groups attached to the boron centers.
