More about Vacuum Spacetimes with Toroidal Null Infinities [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Recently Bernd Schmidt has given three explicit examples of spacetimes with toroidal null infinities. In this paper all solutions with a toroidal null infinity within Schmidt's metric ansatz (polarized Gowdy models) are constructed.

Null model exhibiting synchronized dynamics in uncoupled oscillators [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2019
The phenomenon of phase synchronization of oscillatory systems arising out of feedback coupling is ubiquitous across physics and biology. In noisy, complex systems, one generally observes transient epochs of synchronization followed by non-synchronous dynamics.

Antibiofilm activity of a chionodracine‐derived peptide by NMR‐based metabolomics of cell‐free supernatant of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...

Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Depletion of energy from Naked Singular regions during gravitational collapse

open access: yes, 2011
A distinguishable and observable physical property of Naked Singular Regions of the spacetime formed during a gravitational collapse has important implications for both experimental and theoretical relativity.

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

Worldwide patterns in species richness of falconiformes: analytical null models, geometric constraints, and the mid-domain effect Padrões mundiais de riqueza de espécies de Falconiformes: modelos nulos analíticos, restrições geométricas e o efeito do domínio médio

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology, 2004
Recently, the hypothesis that the geographic distribution of species could be influenced by the shape of the domain edges, the so-called Mid-Domain Effect (MDE), has been included as one of the five credible hypotheses for explaining spatial gradients in

Inflationary spacetimes are not past-complete

open access: yes, 2003
Many inflating spacetimes are likely to violate the weak energy condition, a key assumption of singularity theorems. Here we offer a simple kinematical argument, requiring no energy condition, that a cosmological model which is inflating -- or just ...

Magnetic reconnection solutions in the presence of multiple nulls [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
It is known that exact analytic solutions can be constructed for incompressible magnetic reconnection in three space dimensions. In the case of an isolated X-point null, there are two types of reconnection solutions, namely, “spine” and “fan” models ...
