Minimizing the Number of Tardy Jobs in the Single Machine Scheduling Problem under Bimodal Flexible and Periodic Availability Constraints

open access: yesInternational Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research, 2018
In single machine scheduling problems with availability constraints, machines are not available for one or more periods of time. In this paper, we consider a single machine scheduling problem with flexible and periodic availability constraints.

The Effect of Static Slack Due Date Assignment on Scheduling Efficiency in Production Systems [PDF]

open access: yesالمجلة العلمية للدراسات والبحوث المالية والتجارية
This paper addresses the problem of scheduling optimization in a flow shop production environment, a system wherein a set of jobs must be processed sequentially through a series of machines, each job is following an identical technological route.

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

An Exact Approach to Early/Tardy Scheduling with Release Dates [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we consider the single machine earliness/tardiness scheduling problem with di?erent release dates and no unforced idle time. The problem is decomposed into a weighted earliness subproblem and a weighted tardiness subproblem.

A Fuzzy Rule for Improving the Performance of Multiobjective Job Dispatching in a Wafer Fabrication Factory

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2013
This paper proposes a fuzzy slack-diversifying fluctuation-smoothing rule to enhance the scheduling performance in a wafer fabrication factory. The proposed rule considers the uncertainty in the remaining cycle time and is aimed at simultaneous ...

Unique circulating miRNAome signatures captured with distinct molecular states in Lynch syndrome and sporadic colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNA profiles distinguish nonmalignant Lynch syndrome from cancer‐associated Lynch syndrome, sporadic colorectal cancer, and healthy controls. Age‐stratified analysis reveals disease‐specific regulatory states, and a six‐miRNA panel shows concordant separation in an independent colorectal tissue cohort.

NEW HEURISTICS FOR MINIMISING TOTAL COMPLETION TIME AND THE NUMBER OF TARDY JOBS CRITERIA ON A SINGLE MACHINE WITH RELEASE TIME

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Industrial Engineering, 2012
<p>ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This paper considers the bi-criteria scheduling problem of simultaneously minimising the total completion time and the number of tardy jobs with release dates on a single machine.

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Sorting Common Operations to Minimize the Number of Tardy Jobs

open access: yes, 2014
We study an operation scheduling problem where a finite set of jobs with due dates must be completed by one machine: each job is completed as soon as a specific subset of unit operations is done.
