A problem in the theory of numbers [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society, 1890
Let it be required to find the square integral numbers which added to a given integer shall produce a square integer, and the smallest such number.

The carboxylate “gripper” of the substrate is critical for C‐4 stereo‐inversion by UDP‐glucuronic acid 4‐epimerase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
UDP‐glucuronic acid 4‐epimerase (UGAepi) catalyzes NAD+‐dependent interconversion of UDP‐glucuronic acid (UDP‐GlcA) and UDP‐galacturonic acid (UDP‐GalA) via C4‐oxidation, 4‐keto‐intermediate rotation, and C4‐reduction. Here, Borg et al. examined the role of the substrate's carboxylate group in the enzymic mechanism by analyzing NADH‐dependent reduction

On the correlation of k symbols

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
In 2002 Mauduit and Sárközy started to study finite sequences of $ k $ symbols $ E_{N} = \left(e_{1}, e_{2}, \cdots, e_{N}\right)\in \mathcal{A}^{N}, $ where$ \mathcal{A} = \left\{a_{1}, a_{2}, \cdots, a_{k}\right\}, \ \ (k\in \mathbb{N}, k\geq 2)

Quantum solutions of a nonlinear Schrödinger equation [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Numerical Analysis and Optimization
In the present paper, we precisely conduct a quantum calculus method for the numerical solutions of PDEs. A nonlinear Schrödinger equation is considered. Instead of the known classical discretization methods based on the finite difference scheme, Adomian

In vivo evidence for glycyl radical insertion into a catalytically inactive variant of pyruvate formate‐lyase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Dimeric pyruvate formate‐lyase cleaves pyruvate using a radical‐based mechanism. G734 serves as a radical storage location, and the radical is transferred to the catalytic C419 residue. Mutation of the C418‐C419 pair causes loss of enzyme activity, but does not impede radical introduction onto G734. Therefore, cis‐ but not trans‐radical transfer occurs

New Prime Number Theory

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2023
<p>This paper introduces a novel approach to estimating the distribution of of prime numbers by leveraging insights from partition theory, prime number gaps, and the angles of triangles. Application of this methodology to infinite sums and the nth sum, and propose several ways of defining the nth sum of a prime number By using the Ramanujan ...

A coiled‐coil domain triggers oligomerization of MmpL10, the mycobacterial transporter of trehalose polyphleate precursor

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Most MmpLs transport lipids and glycolipids of the complex mycomembrane of mycobacteria. This study shows that MmpL10 from Mycobacterium smegmatis, the transporter of the trehalose polyphosphate precursor, harbors a coiled‐coil‐like extension. Biochemical and electron microscopy studies demonstrate that the coiled‐coil enables MmpL10 to trimerize.

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.
