Las medidas corporales en los rituales mexicanos

open access: yesAteliers d'Anthropologie, 2014
Indian rituals past and present attribute an important place to numeration. This article offers a comparison between the Nahua system of measurements inherited from the Conquest period and the Tlapanec system observed today.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Asymptotic behaviour of a non-commutative rational series with a nonnegative linear representation

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2007
We analyse the asymptotic behaviour in the mean of a non-commutative rational series, which originates from differential cryptanalysis, using tools from probability theory, and from analytic number theory.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Ito-Sadahiro numbers vs. Parry numbers

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2011
We consider a positional numeration system with a negative base, as introduced by Ito and Sadahiro. In particular, we focus on the algebraic properties of negative bases −β for which the corresponding dynamical system is sofic, which happens, according ...

Coding with Asymmetric Numeral Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Asymmetric Numeral Systems (ANS) are an entropy-based encoding method introduced by Jarek Duda, combining the Shannon-optimal compression effectiveness of arithmetic coding with the execution efficiency of Huffman coding. Existing presentations of the ANS encoding and decoding algorithms are somewhat obscured by the lack of suitable presentation ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Ultimate periodicity problem for linear numeration systems

open access: yes, 2021
We address the following decision problem. Given a numeration system $U$ and a $U$-recognizable set $X\subseteq\mathbb{N}$, i.e. the set of its greedy $U$-representations is recognized by a finite automaton, decide whether or not $X$ is ultimately ...
