We present an algorithm for numerical solution of the equations of magnetohydrodynamics describing the convective dynamo in a plane horizontal layer rotating about an arbitrary axis under geophysically sound boundary conditions. While in many respects we

Predictions begin with an extrapolation of the properties of their underlying representations to forecast a future state not presently in evidence. For numerical predictions, sets of numbers are summarized and the result forms the basis of and constrains

A Numerical Accuracy Consideration in Polynomial Deflation [PDF]
In a recent paper, Peters and Wilkinson described a composite deflation method which provides an accurate technique for the determination of the roots of a polynomial where these roots are widely spaced. By examples involving deflation by linear factors they demonstrated that the method was much more accurate than forward or backward deflation.

Target Association of Heterogeneous Sensors Based on Nearest-neighbor and Topology
A new data association algorithm is proposed in this paper for heterogeneous sensors information fusion system, which consists of Radar and high-dynamic-range IR, based on joint usage of the nearest-neighbor (NN) and the topology similarity. The proposed

Numerical Magnitude Affects Accuracy but Not Precision of Temporal Judgments
A Theory of Magnitude (ATOM) suggests that space, time, and quantities are processed through a generalized magnitude system. ATOM posits that task-irrelevant magnitudes interfere with the processing of task-relevant magnitudes as all the magnitudes are ...

Playing with nonuniform grids [PDF]
Numerical experiments with discretization methods on nonuniform grids are presented for the convection-diffusion equation. These show that the accuracy of the discrete solution is not very well predicted by the local truncation error.

Improving Numerical Accuracy in Time-Domain Simulation for Power Electronics Circuits
In time-domain simulations of power system transients, trapezoidal integration with fixed step-size is the most common method due to its accuracy and ease of implementation.

On the accuracy of invariant numerical schemes
In this paper we present a method of construction of invariant numerical schemes for partial differential equations. The resulting schemes preserve the Lie-symmetry group of the continuous equation and they are at least as accurate as the original scheme.
