A computational and theoretical investigation of the accuracy of quasicontinuum methods [PDF]
We give computational results to study the accuracy of several quasicontinuum methods for two benchmark problems – the stability of a Lomer dislocation pair under shear and the stability of a lattice to plastic slip under tensile loading.

Entropy splitting for high-order numerical simulation of compressible turbulence [PDF]
A stable high-order numerical scheme for direct numerical simulation (DNS) of shock-free compressible turbulence is presented. The method is applicable to general geometries. It contains no upwinding, artificial dissipation, or filtering.

Analysis of a High-Accuracy Numerical Method for Time-Fractional Integro-Differential Equations
A high-order finite difference numerical scheme based on the compact difference operator is proposed in this paper for time-fractional partial integro-differential equations with a weakly singular kernel, where the time-fractional derivative term is ...

The Meaning and Accuracy of the Improving Functions in the Solution of the CBQR by Krotov’s Method
A new solution to the continuous-time bilinear quadratic regulator optimal control problem (CBQR) was recently developed using Krotov’s Method. This paper provides two theoretical results related to the properties of that solution.

In forming of glasses frame, bending and inverse bending of rim wires with 4 rolls are usually employed. Only an inverse bending roll, the 4th roll, can change the position to control the curvature of the rim wire.

Ultra-fast searching assists in evaluating sub-ppm mass accuracy enhancement in U-HPLC/Orbitrap MS data [PDF]
A strategy, detailed methodology description and software are given with which the mass accuracy of U-HPLC-Orbitrap data (resolving power 50,000 FWHM) can be enhanced by an order of magnitude to sub-ppm levels.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Conservative numerical methods for model kinetic equations [PDF]
A new conservative discrete ordinate method for nonlinear model kinetic equations is proposed. The conservation property with respect to the collision integral is achieved by satisfying at the discrete level approximation conditions used in deriving the ...
