Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard Analysis: High Performance Computing for Massive Scale Inundation Simulations

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2020
Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard Analysis (PTHA) quantifies the probability of exceeding a specified inundation intensity at a given location within a given time interval.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Advection versus diffusion in brain ventricular transport

open access: yesFluids and Barriers of the CNS
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is integral to brain function. CSF provides mechanical support for the brain and helps distribute nutrients, neurotransmitters and metabolites throughout the central nervous system.

Highly efficient numerical scheme for solving fuzzy system of linear and non-linear equations with application in differential equations

open access: yesApplied Mathematics in Science and Engineering, 2022
In this research, we suggested a numerical iterative scheme for investigating the numerical solution of fuzzy linear and nonlinear systems of equations, particularly where the linear or nonlinear system co-efficient is a crisp number and the right-hand ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Analysis of the Effect of Subway Operation on the Vibration of Buildings Along the Line Based on Edge Computing

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The vibration effect of subway train operation on the adjacent building structure has become one of the outstanding problems in the development of urban underground rail transit and the construction facilities along the line.

Sleep cycle-dependent vascular dynamics in male mice and the predicted effects on perivascular cerebrospinal fluid flow and solute transport

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Why fluid and solute transport in perivascular spaces is enhanced upon sleep remains elusive. Here, the authors show that each sleep cycle state displays unique perivascular dynamics, which enhances predicted fluid movement and solute transport.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
