A Modified Three-Term Conjugate Descent Derivative-Free Method for Constrained Nonlinear Monotone Equations and Signal Reconstruction Problems

open access: yesMathematics
Iterative methods for solving constraint nonlinear monotone equations have been developed and improved by many researchers. The aim of this research is to present a modified three-term conjugate descent (TTCD) derivative-free method for constrained ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Integrating Proper Orthogonal Decomposition with the Crank–Nicolson Finite Element Method for Efficient Solutions of the Schrödinger Equation

open access: yesAxioms
This study proposes a dimensionality reduction method based on proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) for numerically solving the Schrödinger equation by optimizing the coefficient vectors of the Crank–Nicolson finite element (CNFE) solution.

Analysis of dynamic wave model for flood routing in natural rivers

open access: yesWater Science and Engineering, 2012
Flooding is a common natural disaster that causes enormous economic, social, and human losses. Of various flood routing methods, the dynamic wave model is one of the best approaches for the prediction of the characteristics of floods during their ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Evolution Mechanisms of an Artificial Calco-Magnesian Agglomerate in Seawater: Analysis of Powder by Experiments and Numerical Modeling

open access: yesCoasts
The aim of this work was to investigate the evolutionary mechanisms of an artificial sedimentary agglomerate formed by cathodic polarization in natural seawater during its abandonment to a natural environment.

Towards the Optimal Design of Numerical Experiments [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, 2008
This paper addresses the problem of the optimal design of numerical experiments for the construction of nonlinear surrogate models. We describe a new method, called learner disagreement from experiment resampling (LDR), which borrows ideas from active learning and from resampling methods: the analysis of the divergence of the predictions provided by a ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Performance of Adaptive Unstructured Mesh Modelling in Idealized Advection Cases over Steep Terrains

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2018
Advection errors are common in basic terrain-following (TF) coordinates. Numerous methods, including the hybrid TF coordinate and smoothing vertical layers, have been proposed to reduce the advection errors.
