A numerical conformal transformation method for harmonic mixed boundary value problems in polygonal domains

open access: yes, 1972
A method is given for solving two dimensional harmonic mixed boundary value problems in simply-connected polygonal domains with re-entrant boundaries.

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Scattering by one-dimensional rough surfaces

open access: yes, 1994
We consider the two-dimensional Dirichlet boundary value problem for the Helmholtz equation in a non-locally perturbed half-plane. We look for a solution in the form of a double-layer potential using, as fundamental solution, the Green's function for the

Exact power spectra of Brownian motion with solid friction

open access: yes, 2012
The accepted version of 'Exact power spectra of Brownian motion with solid friction'(v1: 14 pages, 5 figures; v2: new figures, some text added, typos corrected) was first deposited by Touchette, H., at Cornell University Library Repository(ArXiv).

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

A wave driver theory for vortical waves propagating across junctions with application to those between rigid and compliant walls [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A theory is described for propagation of vortical waves across alternate rigid and compliant panels. The structure in the fluid side at the junction of panels is a highly vortical narrow viscous structure which is idealized as a wave driver.

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Ostrowski's Inequality for Vector-Valued Functions and Applications

open access: yes, 2001
Some Ostrowski type inequalities for vector-valued functions are obtained. Applications for operatorial inequalities and numerical approximation for the solutions of certain differential equations in Banach spaces are also ...
