OM Ocean Models

open access: yes, 2007
Introduction We have embarked upon this exposition of ocean models with three goals: (a) to outline the hydrodynamic and numerical foundations upon which the current ocean models rest; (b) to provide the initial tools for beginners (and even for more ...

Computer Insight into the Molecular Level of Heart Failure. What is the Role of NCX?

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2008
Though congestive heart failure is a leading cause of death in our population, the pathophysiological mechanisms at molecular level remain to be elucidated. This paper discusses the contribution of NCX to the pathological pattern of intracellular calcium

Finite Element Analysis of Electromagnetic Forming Process Applied on Thin Wall Metallic Workpieces [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 2009
The paper deals with numerical simulationsof magnetoforming process applied on thin wallmetallic workpieces. Finite element models aredeveloped using ANSYS Multiphysics as a support. The transient electromagnetic field phenomena aresequentially coupled ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Two adaptive radiative transfer schemes for numerical weather prediction models

open access: yes, 2007
Radiative transfer calculations in atmospheric models are computationally expensive, even if based on simplifications such as the δ-two-stream approximation.

Deterministic numerical solutions of the Boltzmann equation using the fast spectral method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The Boltzmann equation describes the dynamics of rarefied gas flows, but the multidimensional nature of its collision operator poses a real challenge for its numerical solution. In this paper, the fast spectral method [36], originally developed by Mouhot

Application of numerical models to evaluate oil spills propagation in the coastal environment of the Black Sea

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Engineering and Landscape Management, 2010
The last decades continuously increasing of the economical activities in the coastal environment of the Black Sea is obviously leading to the enhancement of the pollution risks due to accidental oil spillages.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
