An impact study of a capsule with a rigid wall using the SPH approach [PDF]

open access: yesINCAS Bulletin, 2015
Impact problems have always been of interest in the Aerospace industry because events such as “bird-strikes” occur quite often and necessary studies must be performed to observe the behavior of structures during the impact.

Numerical simulations of the nonlinear Molodensky problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present a boundary element method to compute numerical approximations to the non-linear Molodensky problem, which reconstructs the surface of the earth from the gravitational potential and the gravity vector.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Numerical simulations for terrestrial planets formation

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2011
We investigate the formation of terrestrial planets in the late stage of planetary formation using two-planet model. At that time, the protostar has formed for about 3 Myr and the gas disk has dissipated.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Numerical Investigation of Flame-Acoustic Interaction at Resonant and Non-Resonant Conditions in a Model Combustion Chamber

open access: yesAerospace
Despite considerable research effort in the past 60 years, the occurrence of combustion instabilities in rocket engines is still not fully understood.

Bioinspired composite segmented armour: Numerical simulations

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2019
Nature has evolved ingenious armour designs, like the flexible carapaces of armadillo and boxfish consisting of hexagonal segments connected by collagen fibres, that serve as bioinspiration for modern ballistic armours.

Reliability-Oriented Design of a Solar-PV Deployments

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Increasing restrictions on the emission of greenhouse gases by the standards and the European Union’s policy aims at increasing the share of renewable energy sources in the energy mix of the Member States. Subsequently, we observe a rapid increase in the

Numerical simulations of rotating sunspots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A numerical model of idealized, axisymmetric, rotating sunspots is presented. The model contains a compressible plasma described by the nonlinear MHD equations, with density and temperature gradients simulating the upper layer of the sun’s convection ...

Lagrangian Numerical Methods for Ocean Biogeochemical Simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We propose two closely--related Lagrangian numerical methods for the simulation of physical processes involving advection, reaction and diffusion. The methods are intended to be used in settings where the flow is nearly incompressible and the P\'eclet ...
