Morphology And Anatomy Of Nuphar Lutea (L.) Smith. Terrestrial, Floating And Submersed Leaves

The anatomy of the geterophyllous aquatic plant Nuphar lutea terrestrial, floating and submersed leaves was investigated. The anatomy of floating leaves is shown to be different from rosette leaves in the following: absence of stomata, cuticula, asterosclereids, differentiated parenchyma, reduce intercellular volume and leaf width.

Sulphoxides of thiobinupharidine thiohemiaminals from Nuphar lutea

Abstract From the rhizomes of Nuphar lutea four new alkaloids were isolated. Their structures were established as syn-6-hydroxythiobinupharidine sulphoxide, syn-6′-hydroxythiobinupharidine sulphoxide, syn-6,6′-dihydroxy thiobinupharidine sulphoxide and anti-thiobinupharidine sulphoxide.

Resorcinol in exudates ofNuphar lutea

Resorcinol (1,3-dihydroxybenzene) was identified as one of the major constituents of the exudate ofNuphar lutea seedlings, which were raised from seeds and cultivated under axenic conditions. The compound is released from the plants in considerable amounts (up to 15 nmol/seedling/day).
