Nutation Damper System [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
The Nutation Damper System is a three function mechanism designed for the Galileo Spacecraft, a spin stabilized deep-space probe to Jupiter. By damping the movement of a large deployable science boom acting as an outboard pendulum, the nutation damper ...

Nuclear magnetic resonance force microscopy with a microwire rf source

open access: yes, 2007
We use a 1.0-um-wide patterned Cu wire with an integrated nanomagnetic tip to measure the statistical nuclear polarization of 19F in CaF2 by magnetic resonance force microscopy (MRFM).

Constraining Ceres' interior from its Rotational Motion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Context. Ceres is the most massive body of the asteroid belt and contains about 25 wt.% (weight percent) of water. Understanding its thermal evolution and assessing its current state are major goals of the Dawn Mission.

Membrane Wrapping for High Capacity and Rapidly Switchable Adhesives

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A membrane‐wrapping mechanism enables high‐capacity, rapidly switchable adhesion by coupling suction, friction, and adhesion. Broadband performance is achieved in dry and underwater conditions, allowing fast, reversible manipulation of objects of diverse sizes and shapes, from delicate eggs and berries to flat, complex, or heavy objects. These outcomes

Modeling and Contact Analysis of Internal Meshing Nutation Spiral Bevel Gear with Different Tooth Profiles based on General Tooth Surface Model

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2020
The derivation process of the tooth surface mathematical model of the internal meshing spiral bevel gears for nutation drive is complex. In order to establish different tooth profiles of the spiral bevel gears and carry out load contact analysis, the ...

Coherent Control of Nitrogen Nuclear Spins via the VB−${\rm V}_B^-$‐Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates coherent control of 15N nuclear spins coupled to VB−${\text{V}}_{\text{B}}^{-}$ centers in isotope‐enriched hexagonal boron nitride. Selective addressing via spin‐state mixing enables Rabi driving, quantum gates, and coherence times exceeding 10 μs$\umu{\rm s}$.

Dual‐Functional Polyphosphoesters for Gene Delivery: Synergistic Effects of Guanidinium and Hydrophobic Side Chains in Degradable Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents guanidinium‐ and indole‐functionalized polyphosphoesters as degradable, non‐viral gene delivery vectors. Through precise tuning of charge density and hydrophobicity, these polymers form stable polyplexes with low toxicity. Remarkably, minor structural changes yield up to 200‐fold differences in transfection efficiency, highlighting ...

Pattern Formation in Non‐Equilibrium Architected Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This article demonstrates an artificial mechanical system ‐ a robotic metamaterial ‐ as an accessible and versatile platform within which to explore and prescribe the reaction‐diffusion driven pattern formation hitherto associated with comparatively less accessible and versatile non‐equilibrium biological and chemical systems.

Printed 2.5D‐Microstructures with Material‐Specific Functionalization for Tunable Biosensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The 2.5D‐MiSENSE platform integrates a microstructured biosensor with an in‐line milking pipeline to enable real‐time detection of mastitis biomarkers during active milk flow. The system uses a 2.5D microengineered surface and patterned electrodes to enhance milk–sensor interaction.
