Feeding, digestion and absorption of nutrients
2010Publisher Summary The main function of the alimentary tract of any animal is the acquisition of food with subsequent assimilation of vital nutrients. The natural diet of fishes varies tremendously between fish species and their natural habitats. This chapter summarizes the current state of knowledge, or lack thereof, highlighting the similarities and

Nutrient Digestibility of Brewers Single Cell Protein
Journal of Animal Science, 1983Six growing wethers were used in a total collection digestion trial to estimate the nutrient digestibility of brewers single cell protein (BSCP). The BSCP product was obtained by allowing microbial growth to occur aerobically on the effluent wash waters of a brewery and then harvesting the solids through a spray drying procedure.

Analysis of variability in nutrient digestibilities in broiler chickens
British Poultry Science, 20011. Forty commercial broiler chickens from two different breeding origins were used for individual measurements of growth performance from d 7 to d 21. From d 21 to d 24 a balance experiment was carried out for the measurement of metabolisable energy (ME), digestibilities of lipids, starch and amino acids, viscosity of excreta water-extract, and amount ...

[Postileal nutrient digestibility in cattle].
Archiv fur Tierernahrung, 1991Four heifers of an average live weight of 301 kg supplied with ileocaecal re-entrant cannulae received rations consisting of 4 kg hay (variants A und B), 1 kg coarse wheat meal, 0.4 kg molasses, 100 g urea and 30 g mixed minerals per animal and day.

DIGESTIBILITY OF NUTRIENTS IN PIG DIETS
SCIENTIFIC LIFEThe balance of diets and the biological usefulness of protein nutrition can be judged by the balance and use of nitrogen. The authors found that the nitrogen balance of the cows was positive and high, which indicates sufficient protein nutrition of the animals, improved feed intake, and improved the digestibility of nutrients in the diet by increasing ...
