FACTORS AFFECTING MEDIA pH AND NUTRIENT UPTAKE IN GERANIUMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Consumer demand has prompted an increase in geranium breeding efforts to produce new cultivars each season. It is hypothesized that the breeding for unique morphological traits has inadvertently resulted in changing the plant's ability to competitively ...

The effect of biochar addition on plant major nutrient uptake in hydroponic systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Farming is a vital part of people’s lives worldwide. New methods for increasing agricultural productivity, such as aquaponics and aeroponics can be costly and slow to implement.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Agar with embedded channels to study root growth

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
Agar have long been used as a growth media for plants. Here, we made agar media with embedded fluidic channels to study the effect of exposure to nutrient solution on root growth and pull-out force. Black Eye bean (Vigna Unguiculata) and Mung bean (Vigna

Nutrient enrichment

open access: yes, 2008
The supply of macro-nutrients (nitrate, ammonia and phosphate) is generally considered to be the key driver of eutrophication of shelf seas. Current world patterns suggest inputs are increasing, while inputs to European seas may be decreasing. If summers

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Screening fungi isolated from historic Discovery Hut on Ross Island, Antarctica for cellulose degradation

open access: yes, 2007
To survive in Antarctica, early explorers of Antarctica's Heroic Age erected wooden buildings and brought in large quantities of supplies. The introduction of wood and other organic materials may have provided new nutrient sources for fungi that were ...
