Nutrient removal from municipal wastewater by the microalga Chlorella vulgaris grown in a continuous system [PDF]

open access: yesبوم‌شناسی آبزیان, 2018
Nutrient inputs into the environments can cause eutrophication of aquatic ecosystems. Therefore, current experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of the initial nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations on nutrient removal performance of ...

A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Performance evaluation and upgrade options for existing sequencing batch reactor for nutrient removal [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
Assessment and upgrade of existing sewage treatment plants (STPs) are necessary due to the revision of the existing effluent regulations which now monitors nutrients including ammonia, nitrate and phosphates.

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Impact of solids residence time on biological nutrient removal performance of membrane bioreactor

open access: yesWater Research, 2010
Impact of long solids residence times (SRTs) on nutrient removal was investigated using a submerged plate-frame membrane bioreactor with anaerobic and anoxic tanks. The system was operated at 10, 25, 50 and 75 days SRTs with hydraulic retention times (HRTs) of 2 h each for the anaerobic and anoxic tanks and 8 h for the oxic tank.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Betaine-assisted algal-bacterial granules for saline wastewater treatment: Performance and EPS-lipid-community mechanisms

open access: yesChemical Engineering Journal Advances
Saline wastewaters are increasingly encountered in coastal municipalities, seawater-intruded sewer systems, and saline industrial discharges, where osmotic stress often destabilizes biological nutrient removal.

Vegetation Re-development After Fen Meadow Restoration by Topsoil Removal and Hay Transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We investigated the effects of different restoration treatments on the development of fen meadow communities: (1) depth of topsoil removal, with shallow (circa 20 cm) and deep (circa 40 cm) soil removal applied, (2) transfer of seed-containing hay, and ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
