Effect of lateral flushing on emitter clogging in drip irrigation using high-sediment water

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management
High sediment content in irrigation water is a common challenge in agricultural regions, leading to increased clogging of emitters and reduced system efficiency. Lateral flushing (LF) is an effective measure to reduce emitter clogging for drip irrigation

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Large-scale utilization of water hyacinth for nutrient removal in Lake Dianchi in China: The effects on the water quality, macrozoobenthos and zooplankton

open access: yes, 2012
An ecological engineering project using water hyacinth for nutrient removal was performed in Baishan Bay of a large shallow eutrophic lake, Lake Dianchi in China. In the present study, a systematic survey of water quality, macrozoobenthos and zooplankton

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Primary nutrient balance as a new tool to evaluate nutrient utilization

open access: yes, 2005
A new tool, utilization rate of primary nutrients, is introduced to evaluate parallel nutrient load and efficiency of nutrient utilization. It is independent of the quality and quantity of final products and therefore allows comparison between any ...

Microbial Phytase and Nutrient Utilization in Low Phosphorus Chicken Diets

open access: yes, 2008
Experiments were conducted with male growing chicken (Cobb 500) to examine effects of added microbial phytase on growth performance and nutrient utilization in corn-soybean meal (CSM) and wheat-soybean meal (WSM) diets. Low P basal diets (CSM1: 0.15 / 0.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Utilization of aquatic plants: a method to enhance the productivity of water in seasonal tanks in the Anuradhapura District [PDF]

open access: yes
Heavy infestations of aquatic plants in a water body cause considerable economic and ecological losses. Many seasonal tanks in the Anuradhapura District suffer from this problem and cannot be neglected in water resource development and management schemes.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Straw return decreases N surface runoff losses in croplands: Evidence from a global meta-analysis

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management
Agricultural non-point source pollution, caused by Nitrogen (N) surface runoff losses, threatens green development and rural environmental quality. Straw return could reduce N losses by improving soil structure and N retention.
