TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Impact of Phosphorus Fertilization on Leaching, Accumulation, and Microbial Cycling in New Apple Orchards

open access: yesAgronomy
Field experiments spanning five years were conducted to convert barren mountainous land into apple orchards, testing five phosphorus (P) fertilization schemes: no inorganic P (NP0K), superphosphate (FP), water-soluble inorganic P (WSF), superphosphate ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Microbial-mediated structural changes in humic acid increase phosphorus availability in the fertosphere

open access: yesGeoderma
It is widely accepted that humic acid-enhanced phosphate fertilizers (HAEP) improve crop yield and phosphorus (P) use efficiency, largely because the carboxyl-rich structure of humic acid (HA) reduces P fixation and enhances soil P availability. However,

Studies of the availability of soil phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) in organic farming systems, and of plant adaptations to low P- and K-availability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In organic farming systems, the purchase of nutrients is firmly restricted as compared to conventional farming systems. This will often cause a negative nutrient budget on the field level, especially in cases with low animal density, where more nutrients

Nitrogen and sulphur management: challenges for organic sources in temperate agricultural systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A current global trend towards intensification or specialization of agricultural enterprises has been accompanied by increasing public awareness of associated environmental consequences. Air and water pollution from losses of nutrients, such as nitrogen (

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Controlled-Release Nitrogen Fertilizer Enhances Saline–Alkali Soil Organic Carbon by Activating Straw Decomposition Agents

open access: yesAgronomy
Soil organic carbon (SOC) represents a crucial factor in agricultural production, and its accumulation is influenced by soil microbial community and microbial metabolism.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Effect of lateral flushing on emitter clogging in drip irrigation using high-sediment water

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management
High sediment content in irrigation water is a common challenge in agricultural regions, leading to increased clogging of emitters and reduced system efficiency. Lateral flushing (LF) is an effective measure to reduce emitter clogging for drip irrigation
