Regulation of nutrient utilization in filamentous fungi

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2023
Organisms must accurately sense and respond to nutrients to survive. In filamentous fungi, accurate nutrient sensing is important in the establishment of fungal colonies and in continued, rapid growth for the exploitation of environmental resources. To ensure efficient nutrient utilization, fungi have evolved a combination of activating and repressing ...

Utilization of Energy Nutrients by Cerebellar Slices

Neurochemical Research, 2002
We performed an ontogenetic study about the utilization of glycine, glutamine, beta-hydroxybutyrate and glycerol as energy nutrients by rat cerebellum slices. Production of CO2 from glycerol and glutamine increased with the animals' age and glutamine was the most used nutrient for CO2 production.

Nutrient Utilization: Workshop Summary

1987
The central theme of this workshop was the utilization of specific minerals and vitamins from human milk and an evaluation of the adequacy of these nutrients in milk to support growth and development of normal term and premature infants. The trace elements iron, zinc, copper, manganese and selenium; the minerals calcium and phosphorus; and a water ...

Nutrient utilization in Acinetobacter colonization

2023
Acinetobacter baumannii is a critical public health threat due to its rapid spread in healthcare facilities and its high rates of multidrug resistance. The human gut has been identified as a potential reservoir for A. baumannii colonization and spread in hospitals. Colonization by Acinetobacter spp.

Urban Utilization of Plant Nutrients

1993
As the world population increases, more people are choosing to make their homes in the desert environments throughout the world. As new population centers develop, there is a great demand for city parks, golf courses, and other recreation areas. The landscaping of new home sites and all types of recreation areas require large quantities of plant ...

Nutrient Utilization by Young Pitch Pine

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1964
Abstract Ten pitch pines ( Pinus rigida Mill.) ranging in age from 5 to 9 years were excavated from an abandoned gravel pit in southern New Jersey. Lateral and vertical distribution of the root systems were recorded and total soil volume occupied by roots was calculated ...

Computational modeling of nutrient utilization in engineered cartilage

Biotechnology Progress, 2013
This study presents a mathematical model for simulating cartilaginous culture of chondrocytes seeded in scaffolds and for investigating the effects of glucose and oxygen concentration and pH value on cell metabolic rates. The model can clearly interpret the unexplained experimental observation (Sengers BG, Heywood HK, Lee DA, Oomens CWJ, Bader DL ...
